Preparing for winter!!

I cannot believe I'm saying this on a warm, sunny September day!!
Last weekend we had a "poorly" (I think) sparrow in the garden. He ended up near the back door and I put out a supply of seeds and water. I noticed today that the containers were empty and the sparrows over the fence were showing a keen interest.

The view from the back door is of a long narrow functional area, with the water butt, bin for bird seeds, mini green houses and racking etc. The sparrows (as many as 30-40 some days) sit in the bush over the wall, so I thought that if I can encourage them to feed within my view from the kitchen, unconcerned by my presence, it will be easier to take photographs during the winter. At present all my bird shots are through glass!! Keeping the windows clean and clear is not always easy!!

I will put out a regular supply of food and when we tidy up in the autumn will rearrange the racking etc. so that the view is not obstructed by the plastic covers.
