The New Project. A Studio Stool.
Nice to be back in the w/shop again, mind you I have enjoyed bringing the garden up together which now needs tending to as and when it needs it.
This is my latest project. A Studio Stool, made from the Spalted Wood I blipped a while ago. At that time I had another project in mind but if I had carried on with that I would have lost quite a bit of the nice 'spalting' in the wood. The piece is far to nice to cut away the patterns in the wood, so this is now going to be a Stool where one can see the 'Spalting' in all its glory.
I have turned two of the legs of the stool(two more to turn) but have left the ends square for the moment, but I will turn those out when I have the actual seat made and ready for the legs. I have marked them top and bottom. The top I will turn down to the correct diameter so as to fit in the drilled hole on the bottom of the seat. The bottom I will turn into a 'ball' shape so it rests on the ground comfortably. All this will become clearer when I actually do the work on the seat.
You can see the 'seat' on which the legs are resting at the moment.
I am currently awaiting a new blade for my bandsaw so I can cut the seat to the right thickness.
Once all the cutting and turning is done I will be sanding, sealing and polishing it.
There is still a lot more to do yet but I will blip the different stages as it progresses.
The extra shows 2 legs turned so far.
Hope you are all well and enjoying your Easter Weekend.
Take care.
