Devizes to Westminster canoe race
It's been a fairly lazy Saturday. Nipped down to the shops this morning on my bike for some bits for lunch.
When Kar came back from the gym she mentioned that the canoes from the Devizes to Westminster race were just starting to come through.
We went to the spot where the Kennet canal joins the Thames which is apparently about half way along the 110 mile route. It seems like an amazing distance to paddle to me but most people were powering through and looked full of energy.
We ended up at the Fisherman's cottage pub opposite a portage point where the competitors had to stop and drag their canoes out of the water to go round a lock. It was the exact spot we sat and watched the race on another sunny Easter about 30 years ago.
I like this sky, the colour and the shape of this photo. Funny, though, how some days you are spoilt for choice while others you end up scrabbling round for something to post.
