A Rare Occurrence

Since there are extra mouths to feed; since little N's birthday was a couple of weeks ago and we weren't there to celebrate with her;  since it's Easter  - I set to and made a cake - Mary Berry's Malted Chocolate Cake. Highly recommended, yummy and idiot-proof.

I hardly ever bake, because it I do, we simply keep eating till it's gone. Fine when there were five of us in the house, not so good now we're down to two. 

We've been to the Donkey Sanctuary at St Boswells this afternoon, and worked up an appetite walking round the paddocks and feeding carrot slices to the residents. They were reluctant to pose for the camera but there's one in the extras. And some comical sheep. We all enjoyed the visit, and it was nice to come home to cake.
