Nature's Easter Basket

I found this collection of fungi, moss, lichen, oak leaf and fir bough in the woods this morning. I think the fungi are in the Trametes family, perhaps Turkey Tail fungus and Bracket fungus? All these things collected on and around this log made me think of an Easter Basket that was nature made. 

The extra is of Jeff overseeing a controlled burn. He's been wanting to burn this pile of oak for months. During the winter the snow was too deep, and then earlier this spring it was too wet or too windy. Finally, today the wind dropped...so carpe diem! I was surprised at how much heat this bonfire put out. Jeff's face remained red in some areas long after the fire was put out.
