unexpected meeting on Maiden Castle

These four renegade lambs, the white-headed one VERY YOUNG INDEED, decided to investigate me on the top of the hill.  As they ran towards me I crouched down and made sheep-like noises - to which they all replied in similar fashion.  From then on they were quite happy to walk up to me, however they did take a few steps backwards if and when I stood up.  In fact they were very difficult to persuade to go away, and one ewe in the distance was bleating loudly without bothering to move any closer.

It seems that this site, first inhabited 5,500 years ago, exerts a curious spell on its present-day inhabitants.
