Button Box

One of my earliest memories is of being looked after by the lady across the road (I've forgotten her name) and playing with the buttons in her button box. This is my grandmother's button box - lots of very (now) unfashionable plastic belt buckles amongst the buttons but some wonderful old hatpins in there too.

I feel very sentimentally attached to it, and it's handy when the boys come home from school with dangling threads where buttons used to be.... (and we're only on day 3 of the new term - 2 buttons reattached already!)
