The William Wallace Letters

This afternoon I visited the Scottish Parliament to see the exhibition of the Wallace letters. One was written in 1297 by Wallace and Andrew Murray, inviting the ports of Lübeck and Hamburg to resume trade with Scotland because...

"The kingdom of Scotland, thanks be to God, has been recovered by war from the power of the English."

Thank goodness relations between Scotland and England are better now. Very interesting exhibition, but I would like to have had permission to blip the letter. This banner outside the Parliament will have to do instead.
