Vermeer and so much more

We are currently in Delft and took a wonderful walking tour this morning with a local student guide. We saw the old churches, explored the streets and canals and had a demonstration of how Delft ware is made. After lunch we decided to take a short Tram ride to go to the Hague and visit the Mauritshuis Museum, home to this painting, The Girl with the Pearl Earring, but so much more. There were beautiful paintings by Rembrandt, Hans Holbein, Memling, Bruegel, and more. Our guide didn't think it was worth the trip, but we loved it and we saw a bit of the Hague as well, with a little stop for Gelato on our way back to our hotel.

Our hotel is very quirky. Every room has a theme, ours being delftware. If I can add a picture, I'll give you a taste of it, but suffice it to say, even the inside of the toilet bowl is decorated!
