Easter Flowers
Easter Monday, except in Aberdeen it is not a public holiday. This is quite strange since it is possibly the most important day in the Christian calendar. While Britain may be a largely secular society the public holidays were, and to some extent still are, based on the important days in the Christian year. Though the actual dates on which these religious festivals fall may have more to do with the dates of Roman and other pagan festivals.
My day included a visit to the supermarket but was otherwise uneventful. Although the day was not a holiday I did get the feeling there was a little less traffic than usual for a weekday, and the supermarket was also fairly empty.
I received these flowers as an Easter present, and I have placed them against a warm sunset. The temperature outside is more akin to winter than mid April.
