Ben Lawers
For the last 11 years I’ve been at the JK, the big orienteering event held every Easter. This year was different; the event was in the deep south, where the terrain didn’t look very inspiring and the fact that we had a last Munro party to attend. Our friend B, who lives in Dublin, decided he wanted to compleat at Easter, and he had 2 Munros left, both of them convenient to the campsite at Kilvrecht by Loch Rannoch. Saturday we left Edinburgh reasonably earl,y and parked in Glen Lyon to walk the Carn Maig horseshoe. B’s penultimate Munro was Meall na Aighean, which we walked up first arriving at the top in a snow shower. After that the weather improved, but it was still the most wintry day I’ve had this winter. We went over Carn Mairg followed by Meall Garbh and finally Carn Gorm. The blip is taken on the way down to the col before the re=ascent to Carn Gorm. The hills in the background are the Lawers group with a dusting of snow on top.
