It was a quick decision to go to Larch cottage Nursery this morning. The weather was dull but we really didn't mind, this place is lovely and we wondered why we don't come more often. It's our nearest "garden centre" and we've been coming here since it opened in the mid 80s.

I say garden centre but that title somehow belittles it. It sells a vast variety of plants, most of them propagated on the site. If they are growing well here I can be reasonably sure they will grow in my garden a few miles away. To add to the reassurance that the plants will survive the Cumbrian chills they have landscaped the nursery with borders overflowing with healthy perennials and shrubs.

If you are anywhere near Penrith on the A6 this place won't disappoint! Have a look at The Man's shot of it.

AND.... remember the trouble at another garden centre where I was aked NOT to take photos? This place encourages it and asks you to tag them on social media. They have no reason to fear spies from their competitors!
