Koycegiz Lake

To thank me for taking their wedding photos, the bride and groom bought a private boat trip for me and my friend Di (the Mother of the Bride). First the boat pilot took us out for breakfast in the reeds. To imagine what it was like, think African Queen. (It was actually filmed here, rather than in Africa.) But instead of leeches, we had turtles, dragon flies, egrets and kingfishers. The place was teeming with kingfishers.

After breakfast we went out into the middle of the lake for a swim. The water is warm and full of lovely minerals (luckily not smelly ones), so it leaves your skin feeling like silk. Bliss! I took this shot on the way back.
