Today is yet another public holiday here, to commemorate the sacrifice and gruesome death of a martyr of Brazilian independence, known as Tiradentes (tooth puller). He was also in the army, so maybe he was chief tooth puller to his regiment.
Normally we'd be heading for the hills, but after a nightmare week of a crashed laptop (HH's) and multiple deadlines to meet, we're just too tired - and still have too much to do. Our tiredness didn't prevent us from enjoying a wonderful evening and staying out late last night. Nothing like a delicious dinner and long talks with very dear friends to cheer one up.
This orchid had me puzzled for a while. I knew it was an orchid, but it was tucked in with another plant and its own leaves were completely hidden. So happy to see it - and it smells strongly of chocolate - which reminds me, time for some food.
Have a good weekend, y'all!
