Crosskeys Bridge

A long journey today from Cumbria to Norfolk for a family holiday. This impressive swing bridge carries the A17 over the River Nene in the village of Sutton Bridge, Lincolnshire. I was so impressed I had to stop the car, jump out and take a photo.

It was built in 1897, and is now a Grade II listed building. Originally it carried the railway and the road, but the railway was closed in 1965. The bridge swings several times a week to allow ships and pleasure craft to pass through to the Port of Wisbech.
