Someone's house
I was a bit early for the doctor's today so i went for a little walk along the street beforehand.
It's a nice street with old university halls set back on one side and a mixture of older houses on the other.
It is interesting to see the contrast between those that have changed hands in the last few years and those I think have probably been owned by the same residents for a long time. Some houses have been extended, often the gardens turned into car parks, walks and gates installed, windows and doors replaced. Then there are houses covered in ivy, with hedges and trees blocking light from the windows and paint peeling from the front doors.
This house was one a short row of older, smaller houses that looks like it might have fallen into the latter category. The fire must have been a terrible shock to not only the owner but also the neighbours.
It will be interesting to see what happens to it next. I expect that in a few months time it will be unrecognisable as the plot is redeveloped and a new house squeezed in to replace it.
I wonder what happened to the previous occupant.
Anyway, the doctor's appointment went well and after 2 years of pain killers, anti inflammatories and blood pressure tablets this will be my first week without taking any medication at all. Biggest surprise is that now I'm off the pain killers I've actually had a headache! Small price to pay :-)
