Six hour cake!

Three fifteen year olds spent six hours making this..a hazelnut gateau. They roasted, peeled and ground hazelnuts...made two different sponges, one chocolate, one hazelnut...made meringue for decorations, but ate the lot, hence the egg!
The cake was meant to have Italian meringue frosting, but this failed. Instead we have a litre of cream mixed with nutella. It was very tasty too!

Kept them out of trouble and usefully engaged for hours! Kitchen even got a reasonable clean up afterward.
