Sunday Drive
We set off with our picnic lunch to drive to Lake Rotoiti. Who should be there but the Nelson Morris minor club. (1st extra ) They were creating quite a stir among the visitors. The Frenchman I spoke to didn't recognise the cars. My friend Claire learnt to drive in one. The forester could say you can fit two deer in the boot of a morrie 1000. His friend had one and they went on hunting trips together. The next excitement was seeing the eels next to the wharf. Some people were feeding them which probably isn't a good idea. The young tourists from the Kiwi Experience bus were jumping off the wharf and then running through them. I've never seen eels so big or so close. (extra 2)
The real purpose of our outing was to walk to an old cob house. It is off the side of the track to the Red Hills hut. The track starts through beech trees and about a Kilometer and a half along it goes beside a farm. You climb the fence and there it is. The last people moved out in 1945.
The final of Broad Church is starting . . .must dash.
