Corn Cockle
Taken earlier this evening after some energetic gardening, taking advantage of the dry, sunny late summer weather. (On a day like today one can easily become mesmerised into thinking the entire summer has been like this.)
This Corncockle (Agrostemma githago) is actually from a wildflower seed mixture that I sowed on our potato patch which we are allowing to rest this year.
