Ferry boat Proteus approaches the Port of Glossa on its journey from the Port of Mantoudi on the Island of Evvia. This is a relatively new route and has cut the journey time from Athens to Skopelos dramatically. The first mate is Dimitris who is the identical twin brother of Post Office George and I believe that most of the crew are local. Glossa is this ship's spiritual home and she is normally moored up here for New Year, when fireworks are set off from her deck, and Easter, when a lamb is spit-roasted in the same place. Whenever she comes into port there is plenty of horn-sounding.
The wild flowers on the hillside are now taller than our two remaining sheep so Lambretta and Vespa have been let in to the upper pasture close to the house to graze. We don't imagine that they will cause damage to plants in pots around the house as their late mother did so famously but nevertheless my entire nursery has been brought up to the balcony from where these photos are taken.
You may notice that the pergola in front of the cottage (bottom left) is rapidly disappearing beneath its blanket of wisteria. You may also notice that my collage-producing program is playing up but I will try to deal with that some other time.
