Glencoe day 2 - The Pass of Glen Coe

Our second day in Glencoe started with rain. Because of this, we had decided to not go for a sunrise shoot. This was a difficult decision: we did not come to Glencoe to miss opportunities, but in this case there really was no chance we could get decent shots around sunrise.

After breakfast (full Scottish, of course), we went to Glenfinnan to capture the Jacobite steam training passing on the Glenfinnan train viaduct. It was still raining and we practically had to run to the scene to be in time. As I was setting up my tripod and camera, the train was already coming. I made a total of four shots but none of them were in focus. When we returned to the visitor centre where we had parked the car, we decided to return in the afternoon for our revenge.

Before that, we drove to Corpach, to capture the ship wreck. Conditions were still not perfect, but we managed to get some decent shots. After that, we grabbed some sandwiches at the local Co-op and returned to Glenfinnan. This time we were well prepared and made the climb to a spot overviewing the viaduct from above. It was very crowded, but we managed to get a good spot. One of the shots of the Jacobite passing the viaduct is in the extras.

When we were on our way back to the Clachaig Inn, we decided to postpone dinner in favour of an early arrival at the Ralston memorial where we had a great view over the Pass of Glen Coe. Another shot, with the actual cairn visible, is in the extras.

As the sun was getting low, the view in the opposite direction was also quite good. This is the last shot in the extras for today. The day ended with dinner and beers at the Inn. What a great day of shooting!
