MonoMonday : stone
A photo from a fortnight ago.
Old gravestones (probably 18th century - the inscriptions have worn right off) leaning up against the back wall of the small graveyard. It was once a larger graveyard, I suppose, but has sold off its land to offices that now crowd it from every angle. Where do the remains of these fallen humans now reside, I wonder?
In the background, the upper storeys of part of the old Jameson's distillery which is now a tourist Mecca as well as some apartments and offices. To the left, a pretty steep small stone staircase leads down and out onto the street. To the right, behind one of the table-like tombs, lives at least one homeless man. A photo of his belongings would have made interesting viewing but seemed an incredibly rude thing to do, so I didn't. He has a sleeping bag at least, and a number of bits and bobs, and plainly a certain length of residency as just above the tomb, hanging from a tree, pieces of art, or perhaps wiccan dreamcatchers, dangle and give an air of a claimed space.
I suppose I ought to try to take a new photo but to tell the truth I am not outward looking and so not inclined to take one today. And besides, here's St Michan's again, just waiting for a theme like "stone", so apologies to any viewer who disapproves of such malarkey.
And another besides: let's say it's because I like these three MonoMondays being a matching set.
