Scapa cloud

I went along to Scapa Bay to check the shore for beached birds (which I do every month for the RSPB). Fortunately nothing. The winds are SE and had driven in lots of guillemots- about 125, many sheltering in the lea of Scapa pier. Some great and arctic skuas too. I watched a group of sandwich terns feeding along with kittiwakes, guillemots and common gulls. They must have found a shoal of fish and were pretty frenzied. One caught a fish ad then called its youngster out of the melee and fed it the fish. Some nice clouds around today. Off to Stronsay tomorrow.
