Ouch!
The theme for Mono Monday this week is 'stone' and, as I had various bits & pieces to do in Stirling today, I thought I'd walk across from the Castle (where there was an exhibition I wanted to see) to the Beheading Stone on Gowan Hill / Mote Hill nearby.
According to the information boards at the site, the Beheading Stone "is thought to have been used for capital punishments in the 15th Century and was probably used in the executions of various important figures." It fell out of use, according to the blurb, as hangings became a more popular method of execution.
Either way, you wanted 'stone' and you've got one!
