Water Rail

Went out on a whim with my camera tonight hoping for an interesting blip and was surprised to see this. Water rails are notoriously shy birds, often heard but not seen. Their call can sound like a pig. I missed seeing one a few months ago, but this one appeared tonight, raking through the reed bed for its dinner. :-)
