three heads are better than one

Sarah's last day at home, and Luke came to visit from Edinburgh. He cycled from the station in Lockerbie, and this afternoon (helped by D and Sarah) put some new pedals on his bike. It was really nice to have them all here.

This evening we took Sarah to Dumfries to catch the train to Carlisle and then to London. She just phoned to say that she's standing on a snowy platform in Oxenholme..There was a fire behind the train and lines down in front of it...the plan was for the train to turn around, take the passengers to Lancaster for a bus to Preston and then another train to London, by which time there might be no onward connections...

....but Sarah didn't sound dismayed. "I'm with a lovely group of people", she messaged me, "and one of them was the drummer with The Liverbirds". Here are the Liverbirds in their heyday :-)
