ANZAC - A Day of Remembrance
Young and old gathered to commemorate those who served in Military operations for their countries. Dawn parades, services and wreath laying were held in every town and city, no matter how big or small, as today is ANZAC day.
Today during the service of our small town I could hear the hum of two spitfires and a mustang drifting in on the wind, sometimes there and sometimes not as they prepared for the flypast on the outskirts of town. As the service was coming to an end, they snuck up and roared through in formation, fast and noisy, tightly turning before coming back, completely surprising us.
Above is a replica spitfire, first extra is the mustang, second extra is another spitfire. I was in awe of the skills of these pilots as they honoured those who served.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
Edit: I've been an absent blipper of late due to computer problems, it's going to be a couple of weeks at least before I'll be back. Meanwhile photo's are being taken and I'll get them loaded when possible. I'm thrilled with my shots today, not an easy task to capture these fast moving planes especially to capture the motion of the prop.
