Tea, biscuits* and a book at bedtime.

I'm rubbish at reading, I always wish I could read more but I lack the inclination and therefore the time. I'm so grateful therefore for my two older boys who still want me to read with them. They are both keen readers, my eldest particularly, and although they will be tucked up in bed reading Lord of the Rings long after lights out they still enjoy me reading a chapter or two at nighttime. At the moment we are all reading 'Wonder' together and really enjoying it.

It's been a wild and wet and cold today today here. The cross country race which was scheduled for after school was cancelled much to the disappointment of my middle boy - but he still got out to hockey later so all was not lost (and actually to be fair running club at lunchtime so he did OK really!). My friend made an unexpected visit for a cup of tea after work and ended up staying for an empty-the-fridge-of-leftovers dinner and that brought some colour to an otherwise driech day.

*my eldest complained his little brother and I spent too long choosing the biscuits that we lost our vital reading time. We have been told that tomorrow we either start earlier or forgo the biscuits.

We'll be starting earlier.
