Tiny Tuesday : : Bath Time

The trees are alive with men , ropes  saws and long handled clippers. If the tree that fell on the neighbor's driveway in January, precipitating alll this activity, had fallen today, we would have seen it before she had to come over in the rain to tell us about it. The squirrel highway has been largely demolished. The large branches that were overhanging the porch and the garage have been removed. Our driveway is full of branches, logs and leaves. As they have moved down the hill, they have moved a lot of their operations from the field in back of the house to the trees beside the front lawn. I'm getting some extra exercise hiking up and down to my car parked across the street since the chipper has been moved to the driveway....

OilMan told me how relieved he was that he could stop worrying about the trees now.  Hearing that, I stared at him in amazement since I have been regularly suggesting having them checked out since we got here in 2012 and he has regularly been insisting that the trees are "fine".

When I went out the front door to talk to Jerry, the tree guy, there were two hummingbirds in the fountain. The driveway was full of guys with saws and branches hauling stuff up from the lawn, but the tiny birds were unphased. They love the fountain. It turns out that Jerry's brother -in-law is one of OilMan's childhood friends. It was fun to hear some of his stories of doing "high work" in his youth, while we watched his crew running around in the branches like squirrels or carrying huge loads of branches down from the porch, around the garage and up the lawn to the driveway.

Amazing way to make a living, yet they seem to love it.
Jerry will be back tomorrow with a big bolt and some cables to fix the tree with the crack in it.

Thanks to trisharooni for hosting this month.
