Grain Elevator
A day at the farm:
Morning
1) Drink coffee and read paper. Interesting little story McDonald's
Their first restaurants in India will be all vegetarian. Thay will
serve The Majaharaja Mac made with chicken patties (vegetarian?)
and McAloo Tikki, a burger made with a spicy breaded potato patty.
2) Wait for the Shamrock dump truck to deliver a load of gravel for
OilMan's DirtMan's garden project
3) Shovel and rake gravel
4) Rest
Afternoon
1) Lunch
2) Coffee with our neighbor
3) Trip to Petaluma (the next town down the road) to Cottage Garden
Nursery. We bought a beautiful Agave plant. I've always wanted one.
I love their sculptural quality.
4) Stop to Blip the old grain elevator. It's still in operation, although in
it's heyday I imagine it handled many tons of chicken feed. Petaluma
was once the "chicken capitol of the world" , and still celebrates Butter
and Egg day. ( even though most of the chicken coops have been turned
into artist's studios--Really!) I love the shadows and the bright blue sky
against the old grey corrugated metal.
Evening
1) A glass of wine on the deck to contemplate our labors
2)Dinner with #1 daughter and number of grandchildren to be determined
(One is tired from his soccer football game, the other is "roaming
the neighborhood")
Life on the farm is good.
