French bread, first attempt

This is my first attempt at making French bread. The twin loafs ended up flat because the moron who wrote the recipe said to lay a tea towel over top but neglected to mention it should be a damp tea towel. I pulled it off and too a layer of dough with it and they deflated somewhat. Not happy. It was still delicious but more like a squat baguette than a full-up French bread loaf. I'm still new at making bread by hand. I'll try it again with a damp tea towel or maybe with a layer of plastic wrap between.
