Sequel

Yesterday's musings-in-advance about this evening's Outside the Bubble event, held in the upper room of Skylark's Hidden Cafe, varied from the real thing.

Perhaps if the fourth person expected at our table--who canceled this morning--had been present, there would have been more differences of opinion. As it was, my tablemates were V, a semi-retired woman who has done many interesting things in her life, and H, a young woman enjoying her career and all that this area has to offer. 

We discussed the Bellingham Herald's questions about financial concerns, public education issues, what we'd wish for our county in the next decade regarding jobs, and what our biggest health and public safety concerns were -- and how our community might respond to these issues. 

But we also talked about ourselves -- our pasts, our presents, and our futures -- and relished the practical information shared and the thoughtful conversation. The evening was a positive experience, and I'm glad that I participated in this gathering.
