The Girls

Had a long day yesterday but happily spent the evening with friends. He used to breed tortoises as a teenager and is delighted to be the proud 'dad' of these three babies whom he affectionately calls his girls.

So meet Holly, Ivy & Rose - no prizes for guessing which time of year he got these.

Holly is the biggest and currently weighs in at a hefty 42g. She is bigger than her sisters because she eats the food of Rose who not surprisingly is the smallest.

They eat lettuce and dandelions and live in carefully controlled conditions. Their poo is in the form of tiny pellets which aren't yukky.

I know so much more about tortoises today than I did yesterday.
