Barely a ripple ...
Had to go to Coniston this morning for an information session about becoming a volunteer guided walk leader for the National Park with specific interest in the copper mines area. I left early so that I would have time for a short walk first. It was completely still and as I approached Torver Coniston Water was looking superbly serene with great reflections. Pulled over and grabbed a quick blip.
Walked up to the Red Dell copper works (shown in extras) before returning to Coniston for the info session. Some of those attending had been walk leaders for 20 or 30 years! They were truly inspirational people - passionate about the National Park and Coniston in particular. Lottery funding for the Coniston Copper project is providing the money to train some new guided walk leaders and I am really excited by the opportunity to get involved.
Off out tonight to the monthly village social. There is no pub in the village but once a month they effectively create a pop-up pub in the parish rooms and provide nibbles alongside the self-serve bar. Its great idea and obviously very popular as the last one was standing room only!
