The Gathering
A morning that started off with a beautiful sunrise, has quickly turned rainy. Out on the lake, there was a gathering of Red-Breasted Mergansers that has been there for several days now. There must be about 50 of them and in this photo, a large number are male. I wish they came in closer to shore so I could get better photos of them. I had gotten a photo of them yesterday as well but it was through foliage. The males were, in unison, raising their heads up in the same direction. Very interesting...
I have included two photos from yesterday...one of Sweet Pea to show how she is growing but looking oh so thin...and Hazel to show you how rough she is looking. Remember the photo of her in winter sitting on the branch? Hazel in Winter Perhaps she had a run in with the Cooper's Hawk that I have spotted several times? She only has half her tail now....very sad but such is nature's way. Thankfully, she is still feisty : ))
Enjoy a restful Sunday!
