Blue

The butterflies around here are a little more cooperative than they are at home. Maybe it's because it's marginally damper, at least first thing in the morning -- a friend says they do less fluttering because their wings are heavier when damp.

I'm pretty sure that this is the same type I blipped here. But this time I managed to get much closer and I even caught it with its wings half open, so you can see the beautiful blue on the upper side. One of the other people here, B, turns out to be a bit of a butterfly expert, and after admiring scores of his amazing butterfly photos and looking at a couple of websites, I'm almost sure it's an Adonis Blue and not a Silver-studded Blue. But there are so many similar looking small blue butterflies, how is a non-specialist to know? And what does it matter what humans call them, when the universe offers us such beautiful creatures?

Look large to see the hairs.

Today's other butterflies are here and here. Absolutely no idea what either of them is! The brown one was particularly cooperative, sitting motionless within inches of my lens for seconds at a time.

Other than that: walk, lunch in the garden, siesta, swim. Perfect Sunday!
