Bucksom buddies
My old uni mates figured out a weekend where they could ditch their kids with spouses/parents and have a wild weekend as we used to years ago. Buckingham was the chosen spot, equidistantly located between us all. Not wild on the face of it but after some online research and quizzing of the waiting staff at the restaurant where we ate, we located somewhere for a 'shoddy' night out. This seemed perfect for our needs.
I met Jenna, pictured here consoling an aggressive sobbing man in a beer garden, on the first day of uni in 2001 when I was wearing triple denim (jeans + jacket + cap). She decided to give me a chance at friendship despite the fashion choices. A shotgun marriage in New Zealand, three kids and a law career later and she remains fantastic value on a night out; charming bartenders into giving us free drinks and mediating conflicts between yobs. Jen needs to be there for all nights out.
With the aggression, terrible DJ, crowds baying at screens urging boxers to pummel each other into vegetative states and flooded toilets, shoddy is indeed the word. But oodles of fun.
