Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Cream - Rollin' and Tumblin' (recorded 8 November 1966, Playhouse Theatre, London, for Saturday Club)
A staple of their early stage act, this version of Muddy Waters' 1950 recording featured Jack Bruce on vocal, bass and harmonica. It was recorded for the BBC Light Programme's Saturday morning music show introduced by Brian Matthew, and is included on the fifth CD of the deluxe version of Fresh Cream, their debut album, played on this day.
The earliest recording of Rollin' And Tumblin' , also known as The Roll And Tumble Blues, was made by Hambone Willie Newbern in 1929. The tune was used by Robert Johnson for If I Had Possession Over Judgement Day in 1936.
