Matterhorn of the Peak

We headed out for Macclesfield Forest today for a walk with some friends.  The first part of the walk included climbing up Shuttlingsloe, or the "Matterhorn of the Peak".

We then walked down towards Wildboarclough and past a pub called The Crag Inn. We were aiming for another pub further on in the walk - The Hanging Gate.

We encountered a Violet Oil Beetle (see extra - not a particularly good shot but worth recording), and saw a Red Kite - the first one I've ever seen in The Peak District.

There were still plenty of young lambs playing in the fields.

A lovely walk with great views, and dry weather with some sunny spells.
