Kings Day 2017

I decided to try my hand at making a blog this week. It meant being a bit brave and baring my no-make-up self first thing in the morning, but I wanted to make one, mostly just as an experiment.

Also, I knew I was going to King's Day this week, so I figured recording the event would give me a focus and also make the mundane a little more interesting :-)

I got up at 6am this morning. I'm supposed to get up at this time every day, but usually I keep hitting the snooze button and finally get up just before7am. It's a nice time of year, as the sun is up, and it just looks really beautiful.

I managed to get my chores done, I got my stuff ready for tonight as I wasn't coming back first, and even had time to water my plants before I went to work.

A busy day. The lady I work with was off sick, so it was a long day without her!

I went home after school, and got changed and freshened up. I got the train early at 4:30pm. I always joke that I've paid my dues as far as queueing goes, and I didn't really want to do it again, so decided to just get there early.

I was there by 5:30pm, and had time for a quick coffee stop at the station. I always forget how busy it is at rush hour.

When I arrived it was already quite busy, but thankfully no queue. Somebody did the stripes on my face before I'd even got through the door! When he stopped me I assumed he was checking IDs.....

My friend M was going to come. Actually I invited the whole group. J, A and A all said they'd come, but predictably bailed in the days before. I think it's because it was a Thursday night, which I totally understand. But M is Dutch, and even though she's been in London a couple of years, she'd never been to the pub or the event, and was keen to come.

She got there a little bit after me, and then guy-friend arrived. He met my friend M, and we got ourselves a drink. Then it was time to kick the poor souls out of "our" corner- the perks of being in the in-crowd ;-)
