International Workers' Memorial Day
I was at Truth and Justice Square this morning for the International Workers' Memorial Day Service. This lady, Louise Taggart, who lost her brother, he went to work and never came home again, gave a very moving speech about how work kills people. Our Truth and Justice Square in Clydebank commemorates all the people who have died from asbestos related illnesses. There are 500 names behind Louise on the memorial, the known, the blank sides are for the unknown. Over 5000 people die in Britain every year from asbestos related illnesses. Scientists have no idea when this figure will peak.
