Cormorant
It's not often that I get so close to a cormorant but this one had settled on the seaweed covered rocks behind the Elie harbour.
My original intention was to photograph the waves pounding on the rocks but then I spotted the cormorant .... no sign of iminant flight so I slipped and slithered over the slimy rocks to get as close as I could.
Not one bird but two ..... a cormorant and a shag sharing the same rock. I've never seen a shag on the harbour rocks before ... the May Isle and surrounding area is their home area. I think the strong winds blew both birds inland. The third bird I saw, a dead gannet on the beach, does not feature but what a beautiful bird.
