MonoMonday: "F8 and Be There!"

SkiMe has suggested an intriguing challenge for MM this week - "F8 and Be There". As I understand it, the idea is to simplify our photo-taking in order to catch an opportune moment. Keeping the aperture set at F8 means you have a reasonable depth of field so you don't need to mess around focussing, but it's not difficult in most situations to get the correct exposure too.

My 93-year-old Dad, a keen Methodist, asked me to help him to take part in a 5-mile walk organised by the local Methodist District. He can't walk all that far these days so was keen to be pushed round the walk in a wheelchair. We were told that it was an easy, level route...so why not?! Well if you know Newcastle at all you'll know that a route which goes all the way down into Jesmond Dene and all the way back up again isn't exactly "level"! Fortunately there were several other able-bodied men on the walk to help: at times we needed 3 of us to push the wheelchair, but we made it and Dad enjoyed it.

This opportune shot (at F8 of course) shows the moment when the right front wheel of the chair got stuck against an uneven kerbstone, causing an abrupt halt and prompting his attendants to take a sudden look down to find what the problem was. (They'd kindly taken over from me for a while following a particularly steep uphill section so I had my camera ready.)
