TINY TUESDAY

We bought this little Veronica Gentianoides, Dark Form, when we visited Hardy’s Cottage Plant Nursery a couple of weeks ago and it was always my intention to use it for Tiny Tuesday.  You will see that it is a beautiful shade of mauve, rather than the light blue, which is probably more usual and it’s common name is Gentian Speedwell.

It has been sitting in the greenhouse for about a week and then has been hardened off outside, so we are hoping that it will take well in the garden - but as we say about our plants, it has two chances - it either lives or it dies and of course, we hope it is the former!

In other news of the garden, the Great Tits are in and out of the nesting box constantly - feeding their babies and they are beginning to get quite noisy - I guess as they are growing, they are getting more demanding - much like children.

The peonies, poppies and many other flowers have tight buds, so we are waiting to see what beauty bursts forth from them and of course, we are now enjoying the clematis, irises, cornflowers, primulas and pansies.  Mr.  HCB has grown quite a lot of flowers from seed, so we are looking forward to planting them out and seeing them bloom too.

Hope everyone enjoyed their Bank Holiday - we had sunshine and some very heavy showers, but had quite a lazy day - it will be good to get our new furniture and to be able to sit comfortably this evening - once all the hard work of putting the other furniture back has been done.  I have decided we will do a bit of decluttering too, so the charity shops should benefit.

“Oh, the joy,
     the joy of Spring,
a joy so grand, so absolute,
so lavish and engaging,
dipping my humble soul in magic,
          uplifting and exhilarating,
instilling beauty and virtue into my days.”
