Type 28A anti-tank gun emplacement.
Up and out early for my Tuesday stint at The J's Hospice. The Pedal for The J's event on Sunday was a fantastic success, plenty of phone calls in congratulating the team and praising their efforts.
On my way home I came the back way by Tilty to have a look an another of the war time defensive emplacements. This one, close to Tilty stands on the banks of the Chelmer. It was of the type that could accommodate a 2 pounder (40mm) anti-tank gun with infantry support.
This little corner of Essex is so quiet and peaceful, it's hard to imagine what things would have been like if history had taken a different turn...
