Back Blip - Commander CC
CC flying a mock-up of a shuttle at the Kennedy Space Center. It has been +40 years since I visited as a child and I think CC was just as excited as I was at the same age. Only the shuttle didn't exist when I was a kid... ha
We got to meet a real Space Shuttle Astronaut, Fred Gregory, who flew 3 missions from 1985 to 1991. He is a former United States Air Force pilot, military engineer, test pilot, and NASA astronaut as well as former NASA Deputy Administrator. Pretty impressive guy! and very down to earth. (hic) The pay must be good as a he is a fan of anything fast (must be a job requirement) having owned several Italian sports cars over the years and now mostly into Corvettes. :) He said there were more than 2000 switches on the command of the shuttle and he knew everyone of them. One of the most impressive things he said is that the things and experiences we tend to remember in life are the surprises along the way. So true! Having prepared extensively for the missions, the long lasting memories were the little surprises of life in space with many humourous stories and antedotes. I won't forget for a long time and I am sure CC either. ::)) Great day.
