The massive clear out that we've been having continued some more today.

We noticed that we had amassed quite a few IKEA things that had never been out of their packaging.

"Hmmm - they've got quite a relaxed returns policy..." we thunked. Quite cheekily actually as although most were bought recently, a few items were (ahem) varying vintages.

So we took ourselves off to Big Blue Shoppe and strolled up to the returns counter.

-"Just wondering if we can return these?
-"Do you have the receipts?"
-"Erm no..."
-"Sorry - but you need the receipts to get refunds. It's a new policy"
-"Oh right... We kinda turned the house upside down and couldn't find them" (wee white lie there)
-"Sorry - we still need the receipts"
-"And we've travelled quite far." (another wee white lie)
-"Sorry..."
"And the baby. We've brought the baby" (desperation) "and we'd have to go back and he needs a feed and..."
"Well if you had some bank statements that showed some transactions?"

Bingo.

I took out the raspberry (with a deft flourish) and said that I could call up my online bank statements and show them...

Luckily - it didn't get that far... After the 3rd failed attempt to unlock the bast**d device with the super secure complex password that work's IT had imposed - the guy gave in and said that he'd take it 'as read' that he'd seen them.

Refunds received. Don't worry -we won't be spending it all at once.
