Castel d'Alaro

Today we drove to the Hermitage just past Orient and from therecwalked up to the castle and monastery on the hilltop. This is Mr C and R relaxing in the parapet before we walked down to Es Verger, a rustic lamb restaurant for a late lunch.

Our daughter has eaten here a few times when visiting a friend who lived in the nearest town, Alaro, so recommended it. It has since then been featured on a Rick Stein TV show and has become famous, therefore busy. However the lamb was delicious, melt-in-the-mouth stuff, much enjoyed by the four of us.

It was a bit of an effort to haul ourselves back up to the col, then down to the car.
