Gorse

After 2 long days in the car, and a very short night in between, I fell asleep early last night, and woke much refreshed this morning.

Unfortunately, whilst the spirit was keen, the flesh is suffering.  I "don't do back pain" as I keep telling W.  Normally any muscular back twinges are gone within a couple of days.  But something has tweaked the muscles in my left lower back.  I've had on and off pain for about a week, and 2 days of driving resulted in quite bad pain last night, and this morning.

So we've had a very gentle day.

In any case, the sun has been fleeting today.  It looked as though it could rain on several occasions, though there wasn't any in the end.  After a very slow start, we walked about 5km around a triangle on country roads, with The Bridge Bar at one corner, where we had a late lunch.

We've been impressed with the gorse, which is in full flower at the moment.  Positively shining, despite the lack of sun.

Later I walked around the garden of Green Lodge, admiring an extensive variety of ferns, and some very large gunnera, amongst other plants.  This evening, we've made an outline plan for the next few days.  Tomorrow is market day in Bantry, and then a walk on the Sheepshead Peninsula.
