Crescent lake

       A prescribed burn is in progress near Pinetop-Lakeside and McNary producing a lot of smoke the past few days. I hoped a trip up to Big lake this evening would get me out of the smoke. It did.

       Lots of herons and coots. I didn't see any sign of the bald eagles nesting in the nearby wooded hill which is off limits. Saw plenty of elk and a couple of pronghorn. The frogs were in full throated chorus too, Βρεκεκεκέξ κοάξ κοάξ.
